Miss World 2025: Thailand’s Suchata wins crown, India’s Nandini Gupta shines in Top 20
Hyderabad: India’s Nandini Gupta, Femina Miss India World 2023 from Rajasthan, delivered a commendable performance at the 72nd Miss World pageant held in Hyderabad, finishing among the Top 20. Although she did not reach the final round, her journey was marked by notable achievements on the international stage.
Gupta secured a place in the Top 40 by winning the Miss World Top Model segment on 24 May. She then progressed to the Top 5 in the Asia & Oceania region before being named among the Top 20 finalists. Supporters lauded her efforts, stating, “Nandini poured heart, soul, and every ounce of hard work into this journey, and today, the world is witnessing her shine! India, let’s raise the roof for our queen who’s making history.”
Had she advanced further, Nandini Gupta could have become India’s seventh Miss World. The last Indian to win the crown was Manushi Chhillar in 2017. Six Indian women have won the title, including Reita Faria (1966), Aishwarya Rai (1994), Diana Hayden (1997), Yukta Mookhey (1999), Priyanka Chopra (2000) and Manushi Chillar (2017).
India hosts Miss World after 28 years
The grand finale of the 72nd Miss World was held on Saturday, 31 May, at the HITEX Exhibition Centre in Hyderabad. This was the first time since 1996 that India hosted the prestigious global event.
The pageant featured contestants from 108 countries and drew a large crowd seated in colour-coded zones. The show began at 6:30 p.m. IST and was streamed live in India on SonyLIV, with international viewers tuning in via the official pay-per-view platform, www.watchmissworld.com. Reigning Miss World 2023 Krystyna Pyszková of the Czech Republic crowned her successor at the end of the ceremony.
Thailand’s Suchata Chuangsri crowned Miss World 2025
The Miss World Organisation confirmed that Thailand’s Suchata Chuangsri has won the Miss World 2025 title. She emerged victorious after advancing from the Asia and Oceania region into the final round, ultimately claiming the crown.
The final Top 8 had included representatives from:
- Americas and Caribbean: Brazil and Martinique
- Africa: Ethiopia and Namibia
- Europe: Poland and Ukraine
- Asia and Oceania: Philippines and Thailand
Only one delegate from each continental region proceeded to the last round, from which the winner was selected.
