Kuwait arrests 14 over suspected Hezbollah-linked terror cell

Kuwait City: Kuwait Interior Ministry announced on Monday that security forces have arrested 14 individuals suspected of belonging to a terrorist cell linked to Hezbollah, which is banned in Kuwait.

According to officials, the group includes 12 Kuwaiti nationals and two Lebanese citizens. Authorities stated that the suspects were allegedly involved in planning activities that could threaten national security, as well as attempting to recruit individuals to join the organisation.

Weapons and materials seized

During the operation, security forces confiscated a range of items, including weapons and ammunition. Among the seized materials was a firearm described as being intended for assassination purposes.

Officials also reported the recovery of drones, Morse code communication devices, maps, photographs, banners linked to the group, training materials, cash, and narcotics. These items suggest the group may have been preparing for coordinated activities.

Ongoing investigation and legal action

The Interior Ministry confirmed that legal proceedings have been initiated against the suspects. Authorities emphasised that the arrests are part of ongoing efforts to maintain stability and protect national security in Kuwait.
