‘Not wife material’: Kristin Cabot files for divorce after Coldplay kiss-cam scandal
Kristin Cabot — the 52-year-old HR executive whose kiss with her boss at a Coldplay concert went viral — has filed for divorce from her husband, Andrew Cabot, just weeks after the scandal made international headlines.
Court filings reviewed by the Daily Mail show that Kristin submitted the petition to dissolve her marriage in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, on Aug. 13. The move comes less than a month after she was caught on the stadium jumbotron canoodling with Astronomer CEO Andy Byron, sparking a media firestorm and her eventual resignation from the company.
But those close to the family say the marriage between Kristin and Andrew — CEO of Privateer Rum and heir to a prominent Boston Brahmin lineage — had already been unraveling.
“He said, ‘Her life is nothing to do with me,’” Andrew’s ex-wife Julia Cabot told the Mail. “He’s saying it has nothing to do with him, even though they were married and shared a house. But then, the only thing he cares about is money.”
Julia, a 63-year-old yoga teacher who was married to Andrew for four years, didn’t mince words about her former spouse. “I wouldn’t say he’s husband material,” she said, before adding that Kristin “doesn’t seem like wife material either.”
The kiss-cam debacle erupted while Andrew was overseas on business in Japan. Sources say he only learned of the public betrayal after returning home. Still, the Cabot camp now insists the couple had been discussing separation for months — a claim some insiders suspect is face-saving spin.
“They were saying how in love they were just a month ago,” one source noted. If Kristin’s divorce plays out anything like Julia’s, the process could turn bitter. Julia’s split from Andrew dragged on for two years, ending with her securing $1 million, a $1.9 million home, and a Jaguar.
For now, Kristin and Andrew remain silent publicly. The couple had only purchased their $2.2 million New Englander-style home, minutes from the Atlantic coast, five months before the scandal. The divorce will mark Andrew Cabot’s third and Kristin’s second.
