Lexington, Ky.: A Saturday evening shooting at a downtown park in Lexington, Kentucky, left one person dead and four others injured, including two children, according to local authorities.

Lexington Police officers responded to reports of gunfire at Charles Young Park shortly before 7:00 pm and discovered five victims at the scene. One victim was pronounced dead after being transported to a local hospital. The remaining four victims sustained injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

Lexington Police Chief Lawrence Weathers confirmed to local news outlets that a 4-year-old and a 14-year-old were among the victims targeted in the attack.

While Chief Weathers declined to release details regarding potential suspects, he stated that authorities do not believe there is an active threat to the broader public.

“If you know of somebody who might be inclined to use a weapon, please let us know,” Chief Weathers told reporters, urging community members to come forward. “Anything that you can do to let us know before something happens, we'll greatly appreciate.”

Law enforcement officials are appealing to anyone with information about the incident to contact the Lexington Police Department immediately. (AP)
