Hit the road, hear the music: Highway in Fujairah plays Beethoven's ‘Ode to Joy’ as you drive

Fujairah, United Arab Emirates: In a unique blend of infrastructure and art, the emirate of Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates has transformed a stretch of its highway into a musical experience.
Along a 750-meter (half-mile) section of road, specially designed rumble strips have been installed to play Ludwig van Beethoven’s iconic "Ode to Joy" from his Ninth Symphony as vehicles drive over them at the correct speed, as reported by Reuters.
Similar so-called Musical Roads have already been installed in places like the United States, Japan and Hungary. However, this is the first permanent road in the Arab world.
The technology operates by etching precisely spaced grooves into the asphalt along Fujairah’s Sheikh Khalifa Street. When vehicles travel over the ridges at around 100 km/h (62 mph), the tires create vibrations that generate a melody, audible from within the car, as they pass over the musical stretch.
