Donald Trump asks Elon Musk to stay out of midterm elections, warns of "serious consequences" if he funds Democrats

Washington: US President Donald Trump on Saturday admitted that his relationship with Elon Musk, once a key ally and donor, is likely over and warned Musk of facing “very serious consequences” if he funded Democratic candidates following the pair’s epic public bust-up this week. “If he does, he’ll have to pay the consequences,” Trump added, but declined to mention the specific consequences.
When questioned about his desire to mend his connection with Musk, Trump responded negatively. He said, "I would guess so, absolutely," when asked if he believed their friendship was gone. He also stated that he had no plans to talk to his former sidekick.
Trump declared, "I have no intention of speaking to him," adding, "I'm too busy doing other things,” adding that Musk was "disrespectful" to the president's office during his appearance with NBC on Saturday. Given how disrespectful he is, I believe it's a very negative thing. "The President's office cannot be disrespected," he stated.
The public disagreement between the duo began earlier this week when Musk denounced the "One Big Beautiful Bill Act" on X, calling it a "disgusting atrocity" and threatening to cause a recession with Trump's tariff policies.
Musk even made a post on X endorsing Trump's impeachment, which he later removed, and mentioned Trump's previous connections to Jeffrey Epstein, which Trump denied as "old news." “I’m very disappointed in Elon," Trump said. “I’ve helped Elon a lot.”
After Musk retaliated, the two exchanged insults on social media. The CEO of Tesla, who contributed $300 million to Trump's campaign, asserted that the Republican would not have won the 2024 election without his backing.
Additionally, Musk asserted—without evidence—that Trump was referenced in official records pertaining to infamous businessman and sexual offender Jeffrey Epstein. Later, he removed his post.
