A US family’s money-saving airport hack has gone viral after they ordered Domino's Pizza to their terminal rather than pay for pricey airport meals.

The family, whose flight had been delayed, decided to have the takeaway delivered directly to the airport while they waited at the gate. Sharing the moment on Instagram, they captioned the video: “Airport food hack, let’s goooo!”

Text overlaid on the clip explained: “Our flight was delayed, and we didn’t want to pay airport food prices, so we ordered Dominos for delivery to the airport.”

The footage shows the family collecting their pizza order inside the terminal before tucking in. The post quickly gained traction online, racking up more than 13 million views and 423,000 likes, along with hundreds of comments debating whether the idea was ingenious or inconsiderate.

Many users joked that the smell of pizza in the confined space of an aircraft cabin would be unbearable.

“I would cry if someone ordered a pizza and I had to sit next to them on a plane and smell it the whole time,” one user wrote.

Others were less concerned. “How are people complaining about the smell of pizza??! Bring curry on, OK yeah, I understand, but pizza? That smells so good,” another commented.

A self-identified flight attendant also weighed in, offering a more practical perspective. “I’m a flight attendant. It’s a good idea… to eat in the airport… However, it’s gonna smell up the plane, and a lot of those boxes are hard to dispose of on the plane because they take up a lot of space. Ever notice how small our trash bags are? Our galley trashes aren’t that big,” they wrote.

Even Domino’s joined in the online banter, responding in the comments with the pun: “just plane delicious”.

Some viewers also questioned the logistics of the stunt, asking: “How did you get back through security after already being at the gate before ordering?”
