UK-based YouTuber faces backlash over racist remarks against Indians on X
Miles Routledge, a UK-based YouTuber, is facing significant backlash after making a series of racist comments targeting Indians on the social media platform X. The controversy began when Routledge, who first gained attention as a British student stranded in Afghanistan during the Taliban takeover in 2021, shared a meme video on X that quickly spiraled into offensive remarks.
The video depicted what appeared to be nuclear missiles emerging from hidden silos in the US, alluding to a global nuclear conflict. Alongside the video, Routledge posted: “When I become prime minister of England, I'll open the nuclear silos as an explicit warning to any foreign power that interferes with British interests and affairs. I'm not talking about huge incidents, I'm itching to launch and atomise entire nations over the smallest infraction.”
The situation escalated when Routledge began responding to a troll account, which has since become unavailable. Believing the troll to be Indian, he started posting racist remarks. In one of his replies, Routledge wrote: “He is clearly a Dalit, imagine the smell. I love how there are numerous tiers of castes they're proud of but everyone in the world just points and goes ‘brown’ lol.”
