Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie clash over Chateau Miraval winery in ongoing legal battle

Los Angeles: Former Hollywood power couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are embroiled in a fresh legal dispute over their shared Chateau Miraval winery, with new court documents revealing tensions over millions of dollars in alleged damages.
According to People, Brad Pitt’s legal team recently submitted evidence in court, including communications between Jolie’s representatives and his team regarding the 2021 sale of her stake in the winery, which the couple co-owned during their marriage.
Angelina Jolie’s lawyers argued that Pitt’s claims created unnecessary burdens, stating, “The burdensome nature of any production is a matter of Mr Pitt's own creation--he is suing Ms Jolie for $35 million in damages. As a result, he has to incur the expense of producing the documents that will show (or not show) those damages.”
Her legal team also highlighted that Pitt was seeking “ongoing damages for alleged harm to Miraval's ongoing operations,” while refusing to produce certain documents to justify why a four-year NDA covering his personal conduct was necessary.
The next court hearing is scheduled for December 17.
The legal saga traces back to 2022, when Pitt filed a lawsuit claiming that Jolie sold her share of the winery without his approval, violating a prior agreement that required mutual consent for any sale. Angelina, in turn, has invoked attorney-client privilege to withhold several contested documents, prompting Pitt to push for access to 22 of them.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, who share six children: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Vivienne, and Knox, split in 2016 after 12 years together and two years of marriage. The actors finalised their divorce in December 2024, but their financial entanglements, including the high-profile Miraval winery, remain a source of contention.
