Argentina sees surge in Dengue cases this year: Over 5,27,000 cases reported

Buenos Aires: Argentina has recorded over 527,000 cases of dengue so far in 2024, marking a considerable increase compared to last year, according to the Health Ministry. Despite a recent decline in cases, the total for this year is 3.2 times higher than the previous year.
Health officials reported 5,27,517 cases in the first 28 weeks of this year, which is 97% of the total cases reported for the entire season starting in epidemiological week 31 of 2023, as per the latest National Epidemiological Bulletin released on Sunday.
According to Xinhua news agency, 401 deaths have been attributed to dengue this year.
The central region has reported the highest number of cases, making up 60% of the total, with 24.9% in the northwest and 13% in the northeast.
Currently, the incidence rate stands at 1,157 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, showing a decline over the past 14 weeks, as stated in the report.
