Hyderabad: The parents of a 23-year-old student from Telangana, who has been missing in the US since November 2, are anxiously waiting for news about her safe return back home in Nalgonda district.

Sreeja Reddy Koya, a native of Shabdhullapuram in Kanagal mandal, who is pursuing her master's at the University of Massachusetts, went missing in Boston. She last spoke to her mother on November 2.

Sreeja's father Yadagiri Reddy, told PTI on Friday that the last call Sreeja made was to her mother on November 2, and after it, they were informed by her friends that their daughter, who went for a walk from her residence, had gone missing.

He said during the conversation, when her mother asked whether she had dinner, Sreeja told her that there was a birthday party in her room; dinner was being prepared, and she would have dinner after the food was ready. A few minutes later, she went for a walk as dinner preparation took some time, but did not return home.

"It is already six days now since she went missing, but our daughter is still not traced", Yadagiri Reddy said.

He and his wife requested the state and central governments to take necessary measures for the safe return of their daughter.

He said Sreeja informed a roommate that she was going for a walk but did not return, adding that her friends stated that they once called her, but she did not respond, and later her mobile phone was switched off.

According to reports, Sreeja was last seen near her residence in Dorchester, Boston.

Sreeja, who joined the course one and a half years ago, had also been working part-time in the US, her father said.

She did her B.Com. in Hyderabad. She visited home in August this year for the Rakhi festival, Yadagiri Reddy said.

He further said that Sreeja used to call her mother or him every day before going to college and after returning home from college to enquire about their well-being, and they also used to call her.

Expressing concern over the disappearance of Sreeja, Telangana state Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy urged the Consulate General of India in Boston, the External Affairs Ministry and also the Boston Police Department to help trace her.
