Pinarayi Vijayan arrives in Oman for 3-day visit; first Kerala Chief Minister to visit Muscat in 26 years

Muscat: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan arrived in Oman for a three-day official visit. He was received at Muscat International Airport by Indian Ambassador GV Srinivas, officials of the Indian Social Club and several community representatives. Among those present were Babu Rajendran, Chairman of the Indian Social Club Oman; Wilson George, Chairman of the Indian Community Festival organising committee and Ajayan Poyyar, Convener of the Indian Social Club Oman Kerala Wing.
The Chief Minister will address expatriates in Muscat on Friday evening and in Salalah on Saturday evening. On Friday at 7 pm, he will inaugurate the Indian Community Festival at the Amarat Municipal Park in Muscat. The event is being organised by the Kerala Wing of the Indian Social Club Oman.
This marks the first visit by a Kerala Chief Minister to Muscat in 26 years. The last visit was by EK Nayanar in 1999.
The Chief Minister will travel to Salalah on Friday to attend the Pravasotsavam. Oman is the second country he is visiting as part of his Gulf tour — earlier, on October 17, he had visited Bahrain.
