The Kerala government has introduced a new mobile application for its comprehensive health and accident insurance scheme, Norka Care, implemented through Norka Roots for Non-Resident Keralites (NRKs). The app can be downloaded from Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

Under the Norka Care scheme, a family comprising a husband, wife, and two children below 25 years can avail of health insurance worth Rs 5 lakh and group personal accident coverage of Rs 10 lakh by paying a premium of Rs 13,411.

The insurance protection under Norka Care will be available to expatriate Keralites from November 1. The scheme ensures cashless medical treatment through more than 500 hospitals in Kerala and around 16,000 hospitals across India.

A comprehensive health and accident insurance package had long been one of the major demands of expatriate Malayalis. The Norka Care scheme realises this long-pending aspiration, an idea that had been discussed in forums including the Loka Kerala Sabha.

Eligibility

Those holding a valid Norka Pravasi ID, Student ID, or NRK ID card are eligible to enrol in the scheme. Registration has already begun, and details on how to register, check eligibility, coverage, and hospital list are available here: Norka Care insurance: How to register, check eligibility, coverage, and hospital list.
