Abu Dhabi: The Federal National Council (FNC), a parliamentary body, has approved the decision to extend the duration of work permits in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to three years.

At present, work permits are issued in the country for two years. It is illegal for a person to work in the UAE without a valid work permit.

The FNC has also accepted the proposal that workers must continue to work at least one year with an employer after the probation period gets over.

However, this condition can reportedly be waived if the employer agrees with the same.
