Winter chill: Price of jasmine shoots up to Rs 2,200/kg in Kerala

Palakkad: The price of jasmine in Kerala skyrocketed to Rs 2,200 per kg this week. Interestingly, the price of jasmine witnessed a hike of Rs 1,500 a kilogram in the last month alone. 

Traders said the decreased production of the flower due to the winter season resulted in a price hike. According to reports, the price may rise further as wedding season is around the corner. 

It may be noted that the state mainly receives jasmine supply from Coimbatore. Sathyamangalam, Madurai and Nilakottai.
