Union Budget to be presented on a Sunday for the first time in history today

For the first time in India’s parliamentary history, the Union Budget will be presented on a Sunday, with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman scheduled to table the Budget in the Lok Sabha at 11 am on February 1.
This will be Sitharaman’s ninth Union Budget, marking yet another record as she becomes the finance minister with the highest number of consecutive Budget presentations. In view of the Budget 2026 announcement, stock markets will remain operational on Sunday.
Later in the evening, Sitharaman will interact with 30 college students from different parts of the country, continuing the government’s outreach with young citizens in the post-Budget session.
