Lockdown: Tax relaxation for motor vehicles, payment deadlines extended

The nationwide lockdown implemented as part of containing COVID-19 has pushed the vehicle industry into a severe crisis. Taking this into account, the Kerala Motor Vehicle Department has allowed more time for payment of vehicle taxes.
According to this, the last date of payment of taxes for stage carrier buses has been extended to April 30. Earlier the deadline was March 31. The three-month payment deferral, that expires on June 30, has been extended to May 14 along with one third relaxation in tax amount.
Similarly, the last date for the three-month payment deferral of contract carriage vehicles has been extended from April 14 to April 30. There will be a 20 percent discount in the tax amount.
The date of renewal of the three-month payment deferral for goods vehicles, which ends on June 30, has been extended from April 30 to May 15.
For private non-transport vehicles, the tax certificate of which had expired on March 31, the last date for payment of taxes was April 14. It has been extended to April 30. Also the last date of submission of G-form has been shifted to April 30 from March 31.
