Mahindra Aerostructures to build fuselage for Airbus H125 helicopter in India

Mahindra Aerostructures Pvt. Ltd. (MASPL), part of the Mahindra Group, has won a major contract from Airbus Helicopters to manufacture and assemble the main fuselage of the H125 light single-engine helicopter. The work will be carried out at Mahindra’s Bengaluru facility, making this another big boost for India’s ‘Make in India’ programme in aerospace.
This new contract adds to Mahindra’s earlier agreement to build fuselages for the Airbus H130 helicopter, which was announced in early 2025 and is already progressing smoothly.
The announcement was made in the presence of Wouter van Wersch, Executive Vice President International at Airbus, Jürgen Westermeier, President and Managing Director of Airbus India and South Asia, and Arvind Mehra, Managing Director and CEO of MASPL.
Work on the H125 fuselage project will begin immediately, with the first delivery planned for 2027. To meet this demand, Mahindra’s Bengaluru facility is being expanded.
Jürgen Westermeier of Airbus said the partnership with Mahindra highlights the growing role of India in global aerospace manufacturing. “This new H125 contract, along with our ongoing H130 work and the upcoming H125 final assembly line in India, reflects our trust in India as a key hub for aerospace production. We are not just producing helicopters in India , we are helping build an entire ecosystem that will support and grow the rotorcraft sector here,” he said.
Mahindra Group CEO & MD Dr. Anish Shah said the agreement strengthens the long-term relationship between Airbus and Mahindra. “We are proud to support Airbus in its ‘Make in India’ plans. This contract shows our shared commitment to building India’s aerospace ecosystem and contributing to the country’s journey of self-reliance in advanced manufacturing,” he said.
Airbus already has a strong industrial footprint in India, with components for every Airbus aircraft being made in the country. Its annual procurement from India stands at $1.4 billion. Airbus is also setting up two Final Assembly Lines in India, one for the C295 military transport aircraft and another for the H125 helicopter.
The H125 is the world’s best-selling single-engine helicopter, widely used for passenger transport, tourism, law enforcement, medical evacuation, and rescue operations. Known for its versatility and cost-efficiency, it is designed to perform in some of the world’s toughest environments.
