The government has issued a clarification denying reports that suggested a revision in LPG refill booking rules, including claims of a 35-day waiting period for consumers.

In an official statement, authorities said that no changes have been made to the existing LPG booking norms and that such reports circulating in sections of the media and on social platforms are incorrect.

As per the current guidelines, the minimum gap between two LPG refill bookings continues to remain:

  • 25 days in urban areas
  • 45 days in rural areas

Officials emphasised that these timelines have not been altered and remain in force as per existing policy.

Rumours triggered confusion

The clarification comes after widespread reports claimed that the government had increased the refill booking interval for certain categories of consumers, particularly those with double-cylinder connections.

The reports led to confusion among LPG users, with some fearing supply constraints or stricter usage rules.

Government urges consumers to stay calm

Addressing the concerns, authorities have urged consumers not to engage in panic booking or stockpiling, reiterating that LPG supply across the country remains stable.

“There is adequate LPG availability to meet demand,” the clarification stated.

No impact on delivery or usage

Since there has been no change in booking rules, consumers can continue to order refills and receive deliveries as per the existing system and timelines.

Officials also stressed the importance of relying on verified sources for such updates, cautioning against misinformation that could disrupt normal supply patterns.

What consumers should know

  • LPG refill booking rules remain unchanged
  • No 35-day waiting period has been introduced
  • Existing gap: 25 days (urban), 45 days (rural)
  • Supply remains sufficient across regions

The government’s clarification aims to reassure households and prevent unnecessary concern, as well as ensure smooth and equitable LPG distribution.
