Futures market trades lower on MCX

On the domestic derivatives market, gold futures on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) experienced a mild decline. December 4 delivery gold contracts fell 0.46 per cent to ₹1,50,800 per 10 grammes during morning trade. Silver futures held firm at ₹2,25,509 per kilogramme. This follows Friday’s close on October 9, where domestic spot gold finished at ₹1,48,909 per 10 grammes and spot silver at ₹2,21,191 per kilogramme.

International markets showed a contrasting upward momentum as global spot gold surged past $4,200 per ounce. US gold futures rose 0.42 per cent to reach $4,234 per ounce. Lower energy costs and strong investment demand provided momentum, though elevated US Treasury yields and expectations of further Federal Reserve rate tightening capped gains. Investors are now watching upcoming US inflation figures, which will influence future interest rate decisions.
