Global cues influencing precious metals
The uptick in domestic gold and silver prices mirrors movements in the US market, where gold hit record levels amid expectations of further interest rate cuts and a slightly weaker dollar. Spot gold in the US rose 0.2 per cent to $3,752.43 per ounce as of 0123 GMT, touching an intraday high of $3,758.03. December gold futures climbed 0.3 per cent to $3,787.60.

Platinum and palladium also recorded gains, rising 0.3 per cent and 0.9 per cent to $1,420.45 and $1,189.84 per ounce respectively. Investors are closely watching for cues from Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, whose upcoming speech could influence market sentiment further.
Factors shaping the market today
Analysts attribute the rise in precious metal prices to a combination of factors:
- Global market trends and investor sentiment
- Currency fluctuations, particularly the USD–INR exchange rate
- Seasonal demand for gold and silver during festivals and weddings in India
- Macroeconomic indicators, including interest rates and inflation expectations
Experts advise investors and bulk buyers to monitor these dynamics carefully before making purchases.
