Gold prices in India edged higher on Thursday, August 6, with the yellow metal gaining ₹1 per gram across all major purity categories. The modest increase comes as investors continue to monitor global bullion prices, the rupee's movement against the US dollar and geopolitical developments.

According to the latest rates, 24-carat gold is priced at ₹14,576 per gram, while 22-carat gold stands at ₹13,361 per gram. The price of 18-carat gold has risen to ₹10,932 per gram.

Silver also witnessed a marginal increase. The precious metal is trading at ₹240.10 per gram, while the price of one kilogram of silver stands at ₹2,40,100, up ₹100 from the previous session.

Gold and silver prices in India are influenced by several factors, including international bullion prices, the rupee's exchange rate against the US dollar, import duties and domestic demand. As a result, rates may vary slightly across cities due to local taxes, transportation costs and jewellers' pricing policies.
