No more car 'pooling': YouTube takes down Sanju Techy’s 'pool in car' videos

Alappuzha: YouTube has removed Kerala-based vlogger Sanju Techy's controversial videos where he was seen travelling in a car modified with a swimming pool inside. All eight videos posted by Kalavoor native, T S Sanju (28) were taken down. To recall, Sanju had transformed a Sports Utility Vehicle into a miniature swimming pool and drove it on May 15 along Alappuzha district's Poonthoppu-Aryad Road with his friends, seeking to replicate a scene from the recent Malayalam movie ‘Avesham’.
As the videos gained attention, the Motor Vehicle Department took action against this illegal act. The State Transport Commissioner, Alappuzha Regional Transport Office (enf), sent a letter to YouTube along with supporting documents, requesting the removal of 12 videos that violated the law. Currently, eight of the videos have been taken down, and the status of the remaining videos is unclear.
YouTube has also prohibited Sanju from uploading any more videos that violate the law.
The issue heated up after the Motor Vehicle Department intervened over the video where Sanju and his friends were chilling in a pool they created in the car. Following this, Sanju kept on posting more such videos even after realising it was against the Motor Vehicle Act, to generate YouTube revenue. As part of the proceedings, the MVD cancelled Sanju's licence permanently and also suspended the licence of his friend who drove the car, as well as the vehicle's Registration Certificate, for a year.
