Youth League march turns violent in TVM, police lathi-charge party workers

Thiruvananthapuram: A protest march of the state committee of the Muslim Youth League against the policies of the LDF government turned violent in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday. The police lathi-charged protestors when they hurled glass bottles, and pieces of concrete and tried to remove barricades.
The Youth league leaders alleged that the police intentionally created the problem. The protest turned violent minutes after Youth League state general secretary PK Firoz, and PK Kunhalikutty MLA inaugurated the event. A section of protestors tried to remove the barricade placed at the north gate of the secretariat. The situation turned worse after they tried to attack the police.
