Youth attempts suicide climbing on transformer to escape police custody; gets electrocuted

Thrissur: A youth allegedly attempted suicide after fleeing from a police station in Chalakudy on Monday. 

Shaji, who was arrested by the police for creating ruckus in KSRTC stand, suffered injuries from electrocution before falling from the top of a transformer. 

The locals said he ran out of the police station, climbed on top of a transformer and got electrocuted from the power line.

According to police, Shaji was in an inebriated condition and stated that he was allowed to leave the station.
