Liquor Policy Row: Youth Congress protest turns violent in Palakkad

Palakkad: A Youth Congress march to the Collectorate here turned violent after police personnel resorted to using force to disperse the protestors.
The march was held seeking the resignation of Excise Minister M B Rajesh over bribery allegations related to the liquor policy.
Following the inauguration of the march, a section of protestors tried to remove the barricade installed by the police on the Collectorate premises. Following this, police resorted to using water cannons.
The police arrested protestors who staged a sit-in protest. Congress leader Rahul Mamkootathil also attended the protest march.
Meanwhile, Youth Congress workers alleged that police personnel misbehaved with the female protestors.
