Youngster makes suicide attempt at Kumily police station following raid at his residence

Iduki: A youngster made a suicide attempt in the premises of the Kumily police station. Muniyandi Suresh, a native of Kumily, was stopped by the police from taking his own life and was later on shifted to a hospital in Theni.

The drama unfolded on Saturday morning. According to the police, Suresh is a serial offender who is booked for ganja smuggling and robbery cases. The police had searched Suresh’s residence on Saturday morning, suspecting him of possessing ganja. However the operation proved a failure as the team had to leave the place empty handed. Following this, Suresh walked into the police station premises and tried to kill himself by consuming poison.

Police immediately intervened and shifted him to a hospital. His health condition is satisfactory.
