2 workers killed in accident during construction at Idukki resort

Idukki: In an unfortunate incident, two people lost their lives in an accident while constructing a protective wall at a resort in Chithirapuram on Wednesday.

Both victims were workers involved in the construction, which reportedly collapsed due to a landslide.

The deceased have been identified as Rajeevan and Benny. Reports indicate that they were trapped under the soil for nearly an hour before rescue operations could reach them.

Fire and Rescue teams from Munnar and Adimali carried out the recovery operations. Efforts included clearing the soil using a JCB.

Preliminary reports suggest that the construction work was unauthorised. The Revenue Department had issued a stop memo in January, which was allegedly ignored, leading to the fatal accident.
