Devise long-term plans to ease work pressure of bankers: Kerala State Human Rights Commission

Kozhikode: Kerala State Human Rights Commission has issued an order to chief secretary to devise long-term plans to ease workload of bank employees within three months by deliberating with State Level Bankers' Committee (SLBC). The Commission member K Biju pointed out to the chief secretary that procedures should be formulated in such a way that it is in good faith of bank employees associations.

The intervention of Commission comes in the wake of report on alleged suicide of a woman bank manager in the state because of work pressure. The Commission was taking case on mental stress faced by bank employees over death of a Canara Bank manager named KS Swapna. The complaint was filed by MP Elamaram Kareem, Ilango Yadav and SN Anil.    

SLBC and Canara Bank general manager denied allegations that Swapna commited suicide because of work pressure. Similarly, top cops over the allegations on suicide informed the Commission that the police have limitations in intervening in the matter.
