Women-centric election manifesto promises that do not see light of day

Thiruvananthapuram: Washing machine, grinder, refrigerator in every house to reduce workload. Special agencies to investigate crime against women and fast track courts to dispose off cases. 

33 percent reservation for women in government jobs. Legislation to exclude women from night work… there were many pro-women declarations made when the election manifestos dropped in the last election season. 

Although all the political parties have been making promises of 33 percent reservation of seats for women in the parliament, this time the bill for the same has passed the threshold of the Rajya Sabha. The ruling party could have ensured that it passed through the Lok Sabha as well but this did not come to fruition.
