Malappuram woman injured in acid attack dies; husband in police custody

Malappuram: A woman succumbed to injuries after her husband poured acid on her here on Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Fashana Sherin, a Chembrassery native. She was undergoing treatment at Kozhikode Medical College following the attack. 

The incident happened on November 5. Her husband, Shanavas, a Wandoor native, broke into her house and poured acid over her body. He also suffered injuries during the attack. He is undergoing treatment at Medical College. 

Fashana and Shanavas were living separately for the past year. It is learnt that police have taken him into custody. Police said that family disputes might have led to the incident.
