Wadakanchery (Thrissur, Kerala): The district president of the Kerala Students’ Union (KSU), the student front of the Congress party, on Saturday issued a chilling threat against a police officer. A video of the threat has emerged on media and social media.

Gokul Guruvayur targeted Circle Inspector (CI) Shajahan during a protest in Wadakanchery. Addressing KSU activists, he warned that the officer would face severe consequences if he stepped out of khaki (police uniform).

"The vice-president of KSU was insulted in heinous way. If you are out of uniform, your knees will be smashed by the KSU committee. Neither Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan nor his deceased father Koran can protect you. Even if it means serving not 90, not 200 (years), but a lifetime in jail, we will not spare you," Gokul Guruvayur said.

The demonstration specifically targeted CI Shajahan. Gokul used obscene language against both the CI and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

The protest was organised to express dissent against the alleged treatment of the KSU district vice-president. Police had reportedly entered the vice-president’s home around midnight to arrest him. Earlier, a video had surfaced showing police officers speaking to the family.
