Which political party is behind Lulu Mall project delay in Thrissur? Netizens seek name after Yusuff Ali’s remarks

Thrissur: Lulu Group Chairman MA Yusuff Ali on Sunday publicly attributed the prolonged two-and-a-half-year delay in the construction of the Lulu Mall in Thrissur to the intervention of a political party. The prominent businessman said that a large-scale project, envisioned to create 3,000 job opportunities, has been unable to progress due to an "unnecessary case" pursued by an individual associated with a political party.
The delay was brought to light during the inauguration of the Thrissur Management Association's headquarters in Chiyyaram, Thrissur. Yusuff Ali clarified that legal action was initiated against Lulu Group even after land acquisition and initial operational activities for the mall had already commenced. This case has remained under consideration by the Kerala High Court for the past two and a half years, effectively hindering any further development.
Following the dissemination of news reports on social media, considerable public speculation has emerged regarding the identity of the political party in question. Claims circulating suggest CPM, while others point to the BJP, and some mention Congress. Many netizens have also questioned why Yusuff Ali remains "hesitant to name the party" directly.
Business landscape of Thrissur
Speaking at the event, Yusuff Ali reflected on the broader challenges faced by business ventures across the country. He remarked, "In this country, if a business venture is to move forward, it will have to face various kinds of crises, and if those obstacles are removed, Lulu mall will come to Thrissur". Beyond the immediate project, he lauded Thrissur as a region "blessed by the footprints of many businessmen" and a key contributor of "all well-known business figures in Kerala". He also commended the Thrissur Management Association for its "commitment to cultural and professional excellence for the new generation".
