Kochi, Kerala: Madhya Pradesh police are continuing their presence in Kochi city in connection with a marriage-related case involving the viral Kumbh Mela girl. The team has been carrying out inquiries across multiple parts of the city, including Thrikkakara, while searching for a friend of the woman’s husband, identified as Farman Khan.

The visiting investigation team includes a woman circle inspector (CI), a sub-inspector (SI), and two civil police officers (CPOs). Despite checks at several locations across Kochi, the individual being traced has not been located.

Kerala police have informed the visiting officers that the whereabouts of the woman remain unclear. The Madhya Pradesh police, meanwhile, have stated that both individuals concerned are required to be produced as part of the ongoing inquiry.

Kidnapping case and High Court proceedings

The case registered against the husband, Farman Khan, is linked to allegations of kidnapping. Legal proceedings are also underway, with his anticipatory bail plea currently being considered by the High Court.

The city police commissioner has informed the Madhya Pradesh police that the High Court has stayed any arrest of Farman Khan until May 20.

Complaint and identity documents reviewed

The Kochi City Police Commissioner has shared details of an email complaint seeking police protection, along with supporting documents, with the Madhya Pradesh police team.

Among the records examined are copies of Aadhaar and PAN cards, which state that the woman is 18 years old, with a date of birth recorded as January 1, 2008.

In her complaint, she has stated that information received from relatives and friends suggests that the Madhya Pradesh police may arrive to take her away forcibly.
