Vizhinjam boat accident: Body of 2 missing fishermen recovered

Thiruvananthapuram: The body of two other fishermen who went missing in the sea off Vizhinjam coast has been recovered. The deceased are identified as Poonthura natives Varghese and Xavier.

The bodies were found in a search operation carried out by the Coast Guard. With this, the total death toll in the mishap touched three.

The boat capsized off Vizhinjam coast due to high tide on Tuesday midnight. Though attempts were made to rescue the fishermen in the boat, three of them went missing in the sea. The body of Poonthura native Davidson was found from Adimalathura on Wednesday.

The boat was returning to the shore after fishing when high tides hit it. The smaller boats were washed away in the tide. Following this, a rescue operation was launched with the help of fishermen in other boats.
