Haridasan murder: Video of BJP leader's provocative speech surfaces

Thalassery: A video of the provocative speech of BJP Municipality councillor in the wake of the murder of CPM activist Haridasan in Kannur has surfaced. The video of the speech by Lijesh, BJP councillor in Thalassery municipality last week, has been circulating on social media. 

Haridasan, a fisherman, was hacked to death by a gang while returning home in the wee hours of Monday. Following this, CPM leaders and others blamed the BJP leadership for the murder.

In the video, Lijesh can be seen speaking in front of the BJP office in the area. The event was hosted as a protest against a clash that erupted in the area in connection with the festival. Citing this speech, CPM alleged that Lijesh speech is proof of the intention of attack by CPM workers. 

In the speech, Lijesh pointed out that they have the means to deal with those who attack their activists. He also went on to threaten CPM leaders by asking them to look into the history.

CPM district secretary MV Jayarajan alleged that Lijesh had planned the murder. "Lijesh is the top leader of BJP. Therefore, the district and state leadership had played a role in Haridasan murder," he added.
