Veena Vijayan paid IGST for payment received from CMRL: IT department report

Thiruvananthapuram: The income tax department has found that Veena Vijayan had paid the IGST for the transaction carried out between her company, Exalogics Solutions and the black soil company Cochin Minerals and Rutile limited (CMRL). The GST commissioner has submitted a report stating that Veena had paid taxes for Rs 1.72 crores received from CMRL. Sources said that this report has been handed over to the finance minister K.N Balagopal and he will, in turn, submit it to the Chief Minister. This disclosure in the report provides a safety net for the government and the CPM that has been attacked for corruption charges ever since reports of this ‘illegal’ transaction made the headlines.
Government sources have confirmed to Mathrubhumi that Veena Vijayan has paid a proportionate amount as GST for the receipt of Rs 1.72 crore. Since Veena’s company is registered in Bengaluru, the tax officers conducted inspections centered around Kerala and Karnataka. The report submitted to the minister clarifies that the IGST has been paid and supporting documents for this exist.
Meanwhile, Mathew Kuzhalnadan said that he would respond to this new development after studying the details. He said that he had written a letter to the finance minister asking for documentation regarding the IGST payment but did not receive a reply. The matter does not end here, he said.
