Rapper Vedan booked for rape: Doctor alleges assault over fake marriage promise

Kochi: A rape case has been registered against rapper Hirandas Murali, popularly known as Vedan, by the Ernakulam Thrikakkara police. The case was filed based on a complaint from a young doctor who accused Vedan of assaulting her after promising marriage.
The victim stated that Vedan assaulted her at multiple locations, including flats in Thrikakkara, between 2021 and 2023.
The police recorded her detailed statement on Wednesday and have begun the investigation.
The FIR was registered under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) since the alleged crime took place before the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) came into effect.
This is not the first time the rapper has found himself in legal trouble. Vedan has previously been in the spotlight over cases related to leopard tooth possession, drug use, and assault.
