Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Chief Minister V D Satheesan has shared an appreciation note for the film Bethlehem Kudumba Unit, saying it took him back to his childhood and left him thoroughly refreshed.

In a Facebook post, Satheesan said he had watched a film in one sitting for the first time in a while, enjoying the movie with his daughter and her friend. He praised its portrayal of village life, ordinary people, relationships and romance, saying he connected with it almost immediately.

“The villages we saw back then, the people there, the ordinary lives we saw, the love between them, the warm romances; it was a captivating movie in every way,” he wrote.

Satheesan said the film kept him engaged throughout, making him laugh at times and feel sad at others. He also praised the performances of not only the lead characters but also those who appeared in just one or two scenes, adding that the film was the result of excellent teamwork.

The Chief Minister said it was unusual for him to write an appreciation note after watching a film, but he felt compelled to do so because the experience had been so enjoyable and refreshing.

He said he had called director A D Girish and actor Sangeeth Prathap to congratulate them, but was unable to reach actors Nivin Pauly and Mamitha Baiju over the phone.

Satheesan also singled out Glixan, a character who had won him over. “Along with them, someone who has entered my mind is Glixan. Poor Glixan,” he wrote.

He concluded by congratulating everyone involved in the film.
