Thiruvananthapuram: In a letter addressed to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Opposition leader V.D. Satheesan requested the government to withdraw the case registered against human rights activist Grow Vasu.

The Congress leader also criticized the conduct of the Kerala Police towards the former Naxalite leader.

Satheesan said it is painful to watch the Police using force to prevent Grow Vasu from raising slogans.

"What wrong had Grow Vasu committed? He is not a criminal, terrorist or a person engaged in anti-national activities. He was someone who reacted against gunning down people in the name of Maoists," Satheesan said.

Satheesan criticised the Kerala Police for their double standard, claiming individuals involved in political murders, impersonation, and forgery crimes are having a luxurious time inside prison.

He also demanded the state to take measures to ensure that Vasu is granted bail in the case.
