Guv Khan issues order: Retiring professor on deputation to become VC of Open University

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Governor and Chancellor Arif Mohammed Khan of varsities in the state has appointed interim officiating Vice Chancellor (VC) of Sreenarayanaguru Open University.

Professor (Dr) Jagathy Raj V. P., senior professor of the School of Management Studies at Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), Kochi, has been tasked with exercising the powers and performing the duties of the VC of the Sreenarayanaguru Open University, in addition to his normal duties, with immediate effect. It may be noted that Raj retires from CUSAT on the 31st of this month.

Raj was appointed as the temporary VC of Open University on deputation last month after Dr P.M. Mubarak Pasha resigned from the post. It is the first time that permission has been granted to someone under the deputation system to continue as a VC even after retirement.
