Thiruvananthapuram: Vehicle owners across the city are facing major issues due to the ongoing technical problems with the 'Vahan' software, which has been out of service for the past week. The glitch has disrupted online payment transactions again, leaving many in confusion and frustration.

Several users who made online payments on Thursday after getting special permission from the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) office reported that while the money was deducted from their bank accounts, the payment did not reflect in the Vahan system. This has especially affected people who paid large amounts, including taxes, for vehicles brought from other states.

To make matters worse, the system for resubmitting incomplete applications was also not working. Many who tried to contact the MVD office complained that they did not receive proper responses or support.

Officials have stated that this is a nationwide issue and assured that the problem will be resolved soon. They also said that no one would lose their money due to the glitch.

Paying fines due to technical glitch

Repeated issues with the Vahan software are causing inconvenience. Since users are unable to pay fees on time, they are often forced to pay fines. Although a fine waiver is usually granted in such cases due to technical delays, it has not been offered recently, adding to the frustration of vehicle owners.

The public is now urging authorities to find a long-term solution to these recurring software problems.
