Kozhikode: CPM Kozhikode district secretary P Mohanan said that the implementation of UCC will damage the secular fabric of our country. He also said that it is the responsibility of all parties in the country to defeat a fascist force like the BJP. “CPM is always up for a broad alliance against the BJP. The party wouldn’t mind joining hands with the Muslim League in the fight against fascist forces. We would also like to see participation of Muslim League representatives in our future seminars against UCC,” said P Mohanan.

“I hope the organising committee members of CPM anti-UCC seminars across the districts ensure the participation of Muslim League representatives. The final decision rests with the organising committee members,” he added.

It should be noted that the Muslim League had earlier declined CPM’s official invitation to the party’s mega seminar on UCC in Kozhikode on July 15.

However, the party is not ready to give up on its attempt to bring the League in its fold, in the fight against the Uniform Civil Code. It is known that the CPM leadership will extend another invitation to the league for participating in the party’s anti-UCC seminar scheduled at Kannur on August 3. CPM has also decided to send its representative to Muslim co-ordination committee seminar which will be held in Kozhikode on Wednesday. CPM Kozhikode district secretariat member K T Kunhi Kannan will attend the seminar.
