Koduvally: Two youths died in a freak accident near South Koduvally on Sunday around 4:30 a.m as the bike they were riding hit an electric post on the roadside resulting in a sudden fire. According to Koduvally police, the deceased were identified as Jasir (39) and Abhinand (21). According to police, the deceased were listed as accused in many criminal cases. 

The incident took place as the two youths riding a bike, hit the electric pole on the roadside on National Highway. Within a split second, the bike caught fire and the flames devoured the hapless youths. They were travelling from Kozhikode to Thamarassery. According to the medical reports, the primary cause of death was burning and severe head injuries. 

Abhinand, who was riding the bike, was found between the bike and the pole in a very pathetic condition, leaving no signs of identification. Jasir, was immediately rushed to the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital but couldn't survive due to 90% burns. Koduvally police and the Narikkuni fire rescue team, along with the residents, doused the fire. The forensic team has also inspected the crime scene. 

Police said the deceased were named in many frauds and were riding the bike of a recently remanded criminal who was booked for theft. Five mobile phones were also recovered from the crime scene.
