Death in caravan; No witnesses, forensic team to examine in detail

Vadakara: In a shocking incident, two people were found dead inside a caravan parked on the roadside in Karimbanappalam, Vadakara, on Tuesday morning. The deceased, identified as Manoj from Malappuram and Joel from Kasaragod, were found by locals who noticed the vehicle had been stationary for an unusually long time. Authorities were alerted, and a police investigation was promptly launched.
The caravan, which belongs to a resident of Eramangalam, had been returning to Ponnani after taking guests to a wedding in Thalassery. Manoj, a driver at a caravan tourism company in Ponnani, and Joel, an employee of the same company, were found in separate locations within the vehicle. Manoj was found on the steps of the caravan, while Joel was found inside. The DySP of the area stated that there is no immediate evidence of foul play, and nothing suspicious has been found at the scene. However, it remains unclear whether carbon monoxide poisoning played a role in the deaths. Forensic teams, fingerprint experts, and a dog squad have been deployed to examine the vehicle thoroughly.
"We cannot confirm the cause of death until the post-mortem is completed. The investigation is ongoing, and we are looking into all possible angles," said the DySP. The owner of the caravan has been contacted but is unaware of the incident. Authorities are also investigating whether the two had any contact with others before the incident.
The bodies of Manoj and Joel will be sent for post-mortem, after which they will be handed over to their families. Authorities are continuing their examination to determine the exact cause of death and whether any external factors contributed to the tragedy.
As the investigation progresses, more details are expected to emerge regarding the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
