Two brothers drown in river in Malappuram

Malappuram: Two children drowned in a river in Mampad, Nilambur on Sunday evening. The deceased are Mampad Pandhalingal natives Aftab Rahaman (14) and his brother Rayan (11). 

The incident happened around 5:30 pm. while bathing in the river with family members. It is learned that children were swept away by the currents. 

Though the locals rescued the children, they later died in the hospital. Their bodies were shifted to the district hospital in Nilambur.
