Twenty20 activists raise serious allegations against CPM, Kunnathunadu MLA

Kochi: The protest against CPM over the death of Twenty20 activist CK Deepu has intensified at Kizhakkambalam here. Twenty20 activists including the ward member accused CPM of assaulting Deepu and also posed serious allegations against the Kunnathunadu MLA.
Member of the fifth ward, Nisha alleged that she had seen Deepu ensnared by the CPM activists when she reached the spot after receiving a call from Deepu.
The four assaulters forced Deepu to stand by the wall and threatened Nisha when she inquired about the matter.
"They threatened me that they will chop off my legs will if I was seen in the ward after 5 pm. By then, MLA also reached there," said Nisha.
She also questioned the purpose of the MLA's visit. 'Why did he arrive there if he did not have any involvement in the crime," asked the ward member.
Deepu was beaten up during the lights-off protest organised by Twenty20 to prevent the alleged attempts of Kunnathunadu MLA to sabotage the Street Light Challenge initiated in the panchayats ruled by Twenty20.
Deepu died while undergoing treatment following the attack. The Twenty20 activists are staging huge protests in front of the Rajagiri hospital in Ernakulam where Deepu’s mortal remains are kept now.
Police have arrested four CPM activists including Sainuddin Salam, Abdul Rahman, Basheer and Azeez over the assault on Deepu.
