TVM records highest number of POCSO cases in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram: Most of the POCSO cases registered in the state were reported in the Thiruvananthapuram district. Among the 1,777 cases recorded within the last five months, 228 cases were in Thiruvananthapuram, revealed the State Crime Records Bureau.
As per the data from January 2022 to May 2022, the total number of cases reported in the first five months of 2022 was double the number of cases registered in these months of the previous year. In Thiruvananthapuram, 72 cases were reported in urban areas while 156 cases were in rural areas.
2,144 incidents of assaults were registered during this period, in which, three of them were child marriages.
Cases were registered in the 2236 complaints lodged against husbands or in-laws, citing domestic violence. Four dowry deaths were reported, while 97 kidnap cases, 982 rape cases, and 264 cases of indecent behaviour were registered here.
