Kannur: Confusion broke out at Mangaluru railway station on Wednesday evening after the destination board of the Bhavnagar–Thiruvananthapuram North Express (19260) displayed the word 'Nadodikal' instead of Thiruvananthapuram North.

Passengers waiting for the train panicked, with some mistaking it for a service bound for Bengaluru or elsewhere. Travellers heading to Kerala eventually boarded only after repeated announcements clarified the destination.

When the train arrived in Mangaluru around 6 pm, ticket inspectors and staff noticed the error on the board. It remains unclear how Thiruvananthapuram North was replaced with 'Nadodikal'.

This is not the first time translation issues have confused. The Hatia–Ernakulam Weekly Express was earlier displayed as Kolapatakam–Ernakulam Express instead of Hatia. On that occasion, railway staff in Kerala erased the incorrect Malayalam translation to prevent further mix-ups.
