Toddler dies after falling into water-filled bucket in Ambalapuzha

Ambalapuzha: Within months of his mother's death due to pneumonia, a two-year-old boy died after falling into a bucket of water on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Vighnesh, son of Vinayan in Ambalapuzha, Alappuzha. The incident took place around 9.30 am. 

As per reports, the toddler and his sister Anamika had been living at their father’s house since the death of their mother. As Vinayan was in Chavara for the past two weeks for work, the kids were looked after by their aunt Divya and grandmother Shakuntala. 

On Wednesday, Shakuntala had gone to a neighbour’s house while the kids were watching TV. When she came back, Vighnesh was found lying inside the bucket. He was soon rushed to a hospital, but could not be saved. 

The body is being kept at the mortuary in the medical college hospital for post mortem. Meanwhile, Ambalapuzha police have registered a case for unnatural death in the incident. 

The funeral will be held on Thursday.
